Ingredients

For the potatoes:

8 med potatoes

1/2 cube butter

1/4-1/2 cup milk (or more to make it spreadable)

salt & pepper to taste

For the filling:

1 pound ground beef

salt & pepper to taste

2 cans- 15 ounces green beans French-style, drained

2 cans - 15 oz.  tomato sauce

cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions

For the potatoes:

Salt your water for the potatoes (it should taste salty like the sea). Peel & dice potatoes. Put in water and heat on the stovetop on high, once boiling, turn down to medium. Boil for about 10 minutes or until tender. Drain.

Add butter, milk, and salt, and use a hand mixer to beat/mash/blend until smooth. Add as milk as needed. You don’t want potatoes clumpy. You want to be able to spread them. Taste them and add more salt or butter as needed.

For the Filling:

Add ground beef to a sauté pan. Season with salt & pepper. Cook until browned. Drain excess grease, and add green beans and tomato sauce. Taste and add more salt or pepper as needed. Spread in the bottom of your cake pan.

Spread the filling mixture evenly in the bottom of a casserole dish. Add mashed potatoes, and spread out over beef filling. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Bake at 350’ for 20-25 minutes until nice and bubbly. Broil for 2 or 3 minutes to brown the cheese just a tiny bit. Be careful BROILING can burn quick.
